Numerical Investigation of a Novel Plate-Fin Indirect Evaporative Cooling System Considering Condensation

An indirect evaporative cooling system combining with thermoelectric technology (i.e., TIEC system) is proposed, in which a counter-flow plate-fin cooler inserted TEC) modules. In hot and humid climate, condensation may occur on the dry channel surface of cooler. For system, aid TEC technology, temperature can be much lower than that traditional cooler, thus, from primary air more likely to take place. A numerical model this novel developed specifically taking into account. Detailed performance analysis carried out. Analytical results found reduces dew point effectiveness by up 45.0% weakening sensible heat transfer but increases coefficient 62.2% increasing latent transfer, under given conditions. The effects main operating conditions, such as electrical current I number n modules, inlet Tp,i, humidity ratio RHp velocity Vp air, mass flow rate x secondary are investigated non-condensation states. It shown condensate easily produced higher I, n, RHp, Vp.
